Kim Huijpen (b. 1982) is a policy adviser at the VSNU. She studied Psychology at the University of Amsterdam, in which she holds a Research Master’s degree. During her studies, Kim served as study associations coordinator for the ASVA student union. Before joining the VSNU, Kim worked in various positions at the Delft University of Technology. As a policy officer for the Strategic Management Board, she was involved with international university rankings and served as secretary for the university-wide integrity programme.
Kim’s responsibilities at the VSNU include research evaluations, open access, the PhD system and academic integrity. Her role involves promoting research integrity and the systematic evaluation of university research quality. ‘Universities are responsible for ensuring that researchers can carry out sound, high-quality academic research. Promoting and monitoring the quality and integrity of academic research is good for the academic community, and thus for the Dutch universities as well.’
